I am the mother of a 13 year old boy, Alex, with Down Syndrome. Raising a child with special needs is both challenging and rewarding, but unless you have experienced it first hand, it is hard to fathom the minute by minute, hour by hour and day by day situations that arise. Some of the stories I have shared with people have brought tears of laughter as well as sorrow, so I decided to share parts of my journey, maybe to enlighten, maybe as a little bit of self therapy. Hope you enjoy!

As I tucked Alex into bed tonight he said, "Come here mom, get closer." I did and he gave me such a big hug and kissed my cheek about 10 times and told me I was the best mom on earth, the best mom"ever, ever, ever..." How sweet is that? He usually doesn't let me kiss him now that he is 10, and I usually tell him to get over it because I am going to kiss him forever, "ever, ever, ever..." Sweet dreams my little bubby....
